Your First Running Race?

I still remember the first running event I go by myself. The Terry Fox Run. At that moment I don't know anyone at all. I have register for a 5km run. Only green green me I just wear it T shirt and run. At that time 10km seen a unreachable distance for me. So 5km is just nice for me. 

I start join running event cause at that time, I really got nothing much to do. All my friend are either busy looking for money or busy taking care of their kids. So not easy to find people to go out. (And I dun really like to go out) And most of my friend are non active. Mostly they only love to window shop or seat chit chat and drink coffee. 

At that moment, I work almost everyday. At lunch time, I will see many old man seat at coffee shop drinking beer or tea coffee. And they can seat there whole day, after days and after days. Than one days you will see the old man gangs getting lesser and lesser. I don't want to end up like them. This call even you got money also no use. You are wasting your life. So I got a idea in my head. To have fun in minimum cost.

I started joining meetup group activities, than slowly move to walking groups than to running.
Why end up to running. Cause I found that runners the people there are more nice. They don't judge( at that time that's how I feel) and are very positive( maybe fake positive,some you can tell). They encourage you to go for more. That how I started register so many running events. Now I go less event, choosy on running event. I still remember the day that I ran at Terry Fox 5km. And that the first Running photo I got from the running photographer. So handsome.

Do you still remember how you still running and end up here now? Can you still feel the fire in your heart about running? I still run by myself now. Not aiming anything now. My fire have become candle light.

How to spot a running event photographer?

I think I wrote this before in my Facebook few years ago. But never mind I try to write it again. Even though now I no more spot the photographers. But it still give me a memories that what I was good at in the past. Spotting a event photographer are not so hard. If you want to find it , they will appear. 

When the time I started running, event photographer at the moment was not many runners aware of. Than come Facebook pages and group. Photographer will post all the photos for free in their Facebook. The only problem is you need to know where your photo taken by who and where to find it. To me Running shots in the past have many volunteers photographers. Running shots are the first place I will find my photo if I when to a event. and they are looking for volunteer photographers, so if you think you are or wannabe or think you are born to be or want to showoff your skill or want to learn or just wanted to be a photographers. So how to spot a photographer?
When starting there sure will be one or two on the left or right. But if you are those want to podium and chiong
. Than you need the photographer spot you better. But if you are average runner. When running do scout 100m ahead to see when runners slow down or stop. It mean there a photographer there. And also if the sky still dark. Do watch out for flash light. 
When running always look straight, dun look at the floor. The floor got no photographers. Also if you saw the photographer, please dun stand there sudden and ask him to take your photo when others are still running. It very danger. You are not a superstar and will not be one. So just let them take what ever shot they can. 



Spotting a photographer is really not that hard, it is the finding of your photos that make the challenge. If your photo is taken by someone. Do ask where to find it. Try to know the photographers. They are nice people. 

Now mostly running event photographers are self volunteer. They don't get payed. So don't be so fuzzy about your photo. If you are handsome, you are handsome. If you no confident about yourself. Dont go out. Use your smartphone and take your own fake face. I don't care.

Obsession with running can or not?

Running is really a good sport. If you regularly run a few km to maintain your weight or just for feeling healthy. Running is what you need. Running also can relieve stress. Just yourself doing a slow run, listening to your favorite mp3 songs. What a wonderful life.

All runners are obsess with running. Running is like a drugs now.
But really why suddenly running become a drug. There a reason why running make a good medicine and a bad drug?
When I started running, I was so obsess and keep signing up races. I even convince myself that it ok to keep signing races. Cause I don't spend on other stuff. But after few years. The T shirt pile up like mountain and the medals like a paper weight. This create problem for me. To me more is less. So I started to sell the T shirt. He medals I still keep. But now just throw inside the shoe bag every time I complete a race. See also don't see.

Some runners so obsess even they injure they still run. they don't know what is stop. why I say myself.

I still love running but now run with less cost.
People will obsess of running and sign up for training. Just so that to improve their running. But it not logical if you got 100 races a year and each race you also PB. Really where got so many PB. All race and route is different. I have PB till I need to invent new PB. I call is slow PB. 

Running with a Coach is great provided the coach just train you running but no other funny request.
Obsess with running also involve in obsess in buying. You will start to buy many many shoes, socks and attire. But each shoe will still look brand new cause each shoe only for showoff not for running. End up many runner is more care their outlook than their running. I call them the fashion runners. It like they are sponsor by the brand but actually not. But without fashion runners the running society also will not look good bah. If not you will see many runners still wearing the same old yellow yellow stain t shirt or singlet in every race like me.
Obsess with running got nothing wrong. It same like obsess with watch Korean drama, obsess with pokemon apps, obsess with zumba.
It just a way to occupied time.
In the end what left is not the stuff you get not how good you wear. It the memories that go down with you. Down i mean go down very down. RIP down. 

Obsess or not you decide yourself. you think I care. 
I only because I put this title already that why must write something. just to update my lousy blog.

So Be Brave Be Wayang and go insane on running. you run till you break your leg or go borrow money also not my problem.

Camel Muar 22km Run


The custom q is fking long. I mean the Malaysia, I was in the sick mood. Going in Muar is not a race to me anymore. It a walkcation for video-graphing purpose just for YouTube views. My throat is dry like sandpaper. If I continue to eat the hacks, phlegm will form in my throat. I can't drink water now. Once I drink I need to go toilet. The journey begin after the Malaysia custom. Put on my mask it time to take a nap. It a 1 hour 50 minutes ride to Yong Peng for breakfast. For now I just try to sleep.
Finally reach Yong Peng, rush to eat cause I am so hungry.  The stop is only 20 minutes. Than we continue the ride to the bibs collection area.
I have little memory the last time I came to Muar race. That why now I write it down.  




We collect our bib and singlet at little three dissolve center convert to Chinese. At the little school, you will meetup with more others elites runners from Singapore. We stay at Muarrer Hotel, after check in we headed out for lunch. In Muar for food they will go tum chiak street. The food mostly is satay, otah, watan mee, oyster cake. To me all cannot eat. Dun forget I sick . But dun care still eat. Than walk a bit take some photo and go back take a nap.
After dinner with elites, back to our hotel room. We wash up and wanted to sleep early. But this hotel outside I think got singing KTV. You can heard it so loud. How to sleep? So seat and stare at the TV. The singing last till 12 am. The sleep is a challenge.
Wake up at 3.30 am. Dun sleep well. So wash up and go down to get ready. 


At the race site, you can see many local runners. Safra lah, running hours, coffee tea runner, Daniel HIIT runners  K5 and so on. The announcer motivate the runners also joke about the cow. Than come the warmup dancing. After it will be flagoff for 22km runners. It time 5.30am. the count down begin and here I go again.
To control my coughing I just maintain my breathing from nose to mouth. But after 1km my throat like cracking dry. I need water. Too bad the nearest water point at 4km so I tahan. And also I wanted to pee. Sick people many problem. 




My mind only think of just finish it and go back shit. I also keep farting. I think a lady runner behind me heard it. But who care, my ass can't control. Finally a waterpoint. I need 100plus. I intend to stop at every waterpoint. No choice. My throat need 100plus. I keep spitting cause many phlegm. So to make my running easy. I need to change my thinking that I m not sick. So I put a aim in my mind. First is to found the cows. So once you got a target you will forget you are nothing feeling well. And also relax myself not to stress. See whatever beautiful. Stop and that photo. That how I last till the finishing. Just change your thinking it will change your mood. I cramp also keep going in sundown marathon, what a dumb sore throat can stop me. Just run and have fun.
My finishing time is about 2.30 for 22km not bad for a sick runner.
Must thank because I sick that why I can see the cows. Last time I run too fast no time to say hi. 

The after event was great, not many running event finish come with food. Tons of tons of fruit was given to runners. Also got icecream soyabean drink durian cake cookies. There is finisher t shirt for 22km and 10km runners plus medal. Also for podium prize they got top 12 come with tall trophies. Open veteran male female all can get. Hello if Singapore knn cannot do it. No wonder so many Singaporean give up local race. Expensive not worth to participate.
But I will not be back again. Same races should not go again. Need to find new races.

Medals? Why we need so much?

Wow, after years of running. Really can accumulate many medals. That create a new problem. Where to put?
Medals, why we need them?
It just a useless piece of metal.
In the past, if no medal I will not run. Now medal I don't even take out from it plastic bag and take a closer look at it. I think when it become more,  it become a problem.
But medal to me got a magic spell. Don't know why runner like to have so many. Yes when you complete a run, the medal represent your achievement. If every medal is a accomplishment of success than I be very success in life I think. 

Until now I still thinking of what should I do with it. If you ask me donate it I will say no. Underwear I can donate but not my medal. Medal is just like books, we need many of it but we don't read it.
I still don't understand those race that you run yourself and post your running to them and they send you a medal. Those are the most silly race that I will never participate. Run myself I still need to pay? Just for that medal? Now other company are doing it too. Virtual run really can heeha many runners. Do nothing but still get payed. Dun be kan cheong spider lah, got new medal anyhow sign up. If I was you. I think it time to rethink is that medal worth it or not. Those who sign up let me know is it worth it?

I think if you really need motivation to run. No need medal. Go join a running group. At least got pretty girls or handsome guy like me to see as a reward. What you need is friend bah.  Put more times in running, aiming for a medal at virtual run is really not a way. I heard many cheat at virtual race cause they got no time to run. Some even use mobike. You play cheat lah!

Maybe I will find one day and use a glue gun and stick all my medal with magnet and just place it in my bomb shelter metal door. Or I create a Virtual Run and get payed and send the old medal out. Over time some medal Color will fade and some will rust. If you ask me to hang it up, I prefer not to. cause one day the hanger will collapse and you be bury with medals.
